An object of fragrance, glass and the elements of nature
Ambium is an exceptional fragrance object at the intersection of art, nature and Czech glassmaking craftsmanship. Each piece is handcrafted at Novotný Glassworks in Nový Bor in collaboration with Czech designers Lexová & Smetana.
Its organic form is inspired by the forces of nature and the Elements concept – the connection of four fundamental elements: fire, water, earth and air.
Molten glass is shaped by the hands of a master glassmaker through the interplay of fire and water. An organic cavity is formed within the glass to hold the fragrance essence. Just as water finds its own path through stone, landscape and time, here too it penetrates the heart of the glass, becoming an integral part of its form.
Fire gives the glass its shape.
Water creates its inner space.
Earth gives it depth, substance and stability.
Air brings lightness, transparency and space for fragrance.
Each Ambium is a unique, hand-shaped original. Subtle variations, irregularities and traces of craftsmanship are not imperfections – they are marks of authenticity and a reminder that each piece was shaped by human hands, not by a machine.
The four colour variations are inspired by different moods of nature.
Black evokes dark earth, stone and depth.
White purity, light and air.
Green a lush forest, leaves and moss.
Pink warmth, flowers and a sunlit summer meadow.
Ambium transforms fragrance into a tactile experience. It introduces scent into the space as a quiet design element that changes with the light, its surroundings and the passage of time.
