Summer brings sunny days, holidays and spending time outdoors. But the sun is not only a source of joy – it is also a significant factor in skin aging and increases the risk of skin cancer. Protection against UV radiation is therefore essential not only from an aesthetic but also from a health perspective. How to protect your skin from the negative effects of sunlight?

Prevention is the key
The simplest and most effective protection is prevention. So, if possible, avoid exposure to strong sunlight at all – especially between 10 am and 4 pm, when UV rays are most intense. If you are still outside at this time, look for shady places, wear clothing that covers your skin, and protect your head with a hat, for example. Dress children in long-sleeved UV T-shirts, their skin is more sensitive to the sun and it is difficult to monitor whether they have applied enough SPF cream.

SPF – tailored sun protection
What does SPF mean?
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) indicates the level of protection against UVB rays that cause sunburn. For example, SPF 30 means that skin protected by this factor can last 30 times longer in the sun without burning than unprotected skin. SPF is the most effective protection against photoaging of the eyelids, i.e. wrinkles that arise from the sun. It is your greatest weapon against wrinkles, so apply it regularly and even on days when it is cloudy outside, for example.

There are two types of SPF filters. What is the difference between them?
Mineral (physical) SPF contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. It creates a physical barrier on the skin and reflects UV rays. It is suitable for sensitive skin and children and is also more environmentally friendly.

Chemical SPFs absorb UV rays and turn them into heat. They have a lighter texture, do not leave a white film, but can irritate more sensitive skin.

You should apply them every 2-3 hours due to circumstances such as sports, sweating, or swimming.

BB and CC creams with SPF
At Yage, we offer BB and CC creams with mineral SPF, which combine the best in one product. Care, natural unification and protection. BB and CC creams contain a mineral filter that protects the skin from the sun, are tinted, so they are used instead of classic makeup and naturally unify the skin and cover imperfections. Thanks to their composition, they care for the skin while wearing it. They moisturize, reduce pigmentation, smooth wrinkles, supply the skin with antioxidants and create a protective layer.

Strengthening the skin from the inside: vitamins and antioxidants
Proper nutrition and dietary supplements can increase the skin's natural resistance to UV radiation. What vitamins and minerals should you include in your diet?
What to include in your diet or as a supplement:
Astaxanthin – a powerful antioxidant from seaweed that helps the skin better cope with UV stress and reduces inflammatory reactions after sunbathing.

Beta-carotene – improves skin pigmentation and acts as a light internal protection.

Vitamin C and E – protect cells from oxidative stress and support skin regeneration.

Zinc and selenium – minerals important for skin health and immunity.

Omega-3 fatty acids – reduce inflammatory reactions and support skin hydration.

Vitamins are not a substitute for SPF, but they can be a great addition to comprehensive protection to strengthen the skin's defenses from the inside.
